ANNES' EVENING

April 4th, 2008 and the Annes’ Evening was taken by surprise with a dramatic prelude scripted in the heavens. As if from nowhere, a vast contingent of dark clouds hovered over the city opening up their bellies to let go a fierce thundershower. A few sighs and prayers later, the clouds vanished and the late afternoon began to look more like a “day” rather than it’s sinister alter ego a few minutes earlier. We move on to the venue at Tuli Farms, and lo and behold, the Annes’ Evening arena looks fresh as ever from a divine wash!

Led by the first lady, Manju Malik, the Club Annes put up a scintillating show. A series of unique achievement awards dubbed the “Rotcars” formed the theme and threaded into the awards giving process were professionally choreographed dances, dumb charades, skits, a film song or two and the not so dumb digs by the livewire emcee duo of Anne Ekta and Harish Seth. A ninety minute plus fun extravaganza topped with a heady bar and a sumptuous dinner spread made possible courtesy the generous hospitality of Anne Neeta and Vinay Tuli.

An event blessed with a divine prelude should logically conclude with a divine postlude. Soon after the last guest had left, divinity came to the fore with the heavens releasing a massive downpour. Thank you, God, for holding up.
